PSC Approves Natural Gas Surcharge Increase
The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by Liberty Utilities (Midstates Natural Gas) Corp. d/b/a Liberty Utilities (formerly Atmos Energy Corporation) to adjust the infrastructure system replacement surcharge (ISRS) on the bills of its natural gas customers.
The surcharge first appeared on customer bills in November 2008.
The ISRS adjustment reflects infrastructure replacement investments made by the natural gas company since June 1, 2012. These costs for natural gas pipeline replacements and relocations are not currently included in Liberty Utilities' rates.
Customers in Liberty's Northeast District, which includes Scotland County will see the ISRS charge increase from $1.65 to $3.16 a month, effective October 30th. The ISRS charge in the Southeast District will rise from $0.65 to $1.04 and will see a hike from $1.36 to $1.97 in the West District.
Liberty Utilities serves approximately 55,300 natural gas customers in Missouri. The West service area includes the Butler District and the Rich Hill-Hume District (Bates, Cass, Henry and St. Clair counties). The Southeast service area includes the SEMO District and the Neelyville District (Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Iron, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Ripley, Scott, Stoddard and Wayne counties). The Northeast service area includes the Hannibal, Canton, Bowling Green, Palmyra District and the Kirksville District (Adair, Clark, Knox, Lewis, Macon, Marion, Pike, Ralls, Schuyler and Scotland counties).
