MFA Farmers Elevator and Produce and CoBank Donate $2,000 to SCR-I Schools

MFA Farmers Elevator and Produce manager Jerry Watson presents a check for $2,000 to SCR-I superintendent Ryan Bergeson to help fund the purchase of the districtís new sign seen in the background.

Scotland County R-I School District has received a donation of $2,000 from MFA Farmers Elevator and Produce and CoBank as part of the bank's Sharing Success program. The donation helped the Scotland County R-1 School District purchase a new LED sign that was placed in front of the campus. The new sign will create flexibility in communicating with district patrons.

The contribution is part of CoBank's "Sharing Success" program, a $3 million matching grant program designed to benefit cooperatives and charitable groups they support throughout rural America. It's the second year for the program, through which CoBank will match contributions by its cooperative customers to nonprofit organizations of their choice. The program runs through November 30, or until the fund is exhausted. The gifts will be matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis, from a minimum of $1,000 up to a maximum of $5,000.

"Our Sharing Success program is rooted in longstanding cooperative principles, including concern for community and cooperation among cooperatives," said Robert B. Engel, CoBank's chief executive officer. "We're delighted to be partnering with so many of our customers, including MFA Farmers Elevator and Produce, to support a wide variety of worthy causes across rural America."

MFA Farmers Elevator and Produce is a local coop that services the agricultural community for Scotland County and surrounding areas. MFA Farmers Elevator and Produce donated $1,000 to match the donation of $1,000 from CoBank.
