Wilma Lee Cain, 80, of Burlington, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born December 18, 1932, in rural Lancaster, MO, she was the daughter of Curtis Leo and Eathel Octavia Lasley Palmer. On December 22, 1958, she married Raymond Allen Cain in Downing, MO. He died November 10, 1999.

Wilma had worked at Sylvania Electric and I.A.A.P. where she retired in 1997.

She was a 1949 graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Illinois and attended Kirksville College in Kirksville, Missouri

She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and the Disabled American Veterans. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends at the Steamboat Senior Citizen Center and the Eagles Club and playing dominos with residents of Robinson Heights and past co-workers of the I.A.A.P. She also enjoyed playing bingo at Hy-Vee, photography and studying history. She was an avid reader, and in her earlier years, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and bowling.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Parker of Burlington, IA and Kay Palmer of Corpus Christi, TX; three step-sons, Jerry (Vickie) Cain of Mount Pleasant, IA, Dennie (Mary) Cain of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jim (Wendy) Cain of Ozawkie, KS; two step-daughters, Linda Allen of Des Moines, IA, and Colleen Clark of Stewart, IA; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two aunts, Lucille Manning of Burlington, IA and Henrietta Palmer of Stronghurst, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Arla Mae "Chubby" Palmer, and Darlene Courtney.

The funeral service for Mrs. Cain were held Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Revs. David Yonker and Dean Benton officiating. Burial was in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship was held at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) following the burial.

A memorial has been established for the American Heart Association.

Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory is in care of the arrangements.
