Ross Kenneth MacNeill, age 11, left with Jesus at 11:54 p.m., Monday, May 13th, 2013. He was in his home, with his family by his side. He had a courageous 4-year battle with brain cancer.

Ross is the son of Ross and Kim MacNeill, and the brother of Rachel. He is also survived by his beloved Grandparents, Marion MacNeill, "Nanny", of Denver, CO, and Don, "PawPaw", and Evelyn, "Momo", Magruder of Des Peres, MO, Aunt Dee Magruder, Ballwin, MO, Uncle Kyle Magruder, Ft. Worth, Tx, Uncle Blair MacNeill, Denver, CO, and Aunt Barb, Uncle Tony, and cousins Robert and Catherine Kesman, Lake Forest, IL.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Morley Kenneth "Poppy" MacNeill.

Ross was a student at Longfellow Elementary School, Wheaton, where he attended until March. He was a very proud hockey Squirt of the Admirals hockey club at Center Ice, Glen Ellyn. He began playing hockey at 5 years old, and skated his final game in February, 2013.

Ross' life was defined by his motto, "Life Is Good". He walked his faith each day demonstrating joy, courage, compassion, and loyalty. He was surrounded by amazing friends and family who loved him deeply.

He now returns to a heaven of perfection and peace, which he earned and deserves.

Services were held at Gary United Methodist Church on Friday, May 17th, followed by an interment service at Wheaton Cemetery.

Family members attending the service from the Memphis area were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Dunn, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Dunn and family, Mark Monroe, Darrel Monroe and Brant Dunn from Omaha, NE.

Memorials may be directed to "Friends of Ross K. MacNeill", which contributes to funding Pediatric Brain Tumor research, to journeycare hospice, and to Ross's favorite charities including the homeless.
