LENORE M. DARR

Lenore M. Darr, 100, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born January 20, 1913 in Scotland County, Missouri in the Lawn Ridge Community to William Francis and Winnie B. Adams. She graduated from Memphis High School in 1931 and attended Kirksville State Teachers College. She taught in rural schools in Scotland County for several years. On April 20, 1937 she was married to Leo M. Darr in Kirksville, Missouri. They were blessed with two daughters, Luzonne and Mary Ann. She and Leo farmed for many years northwest of Memphis. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Memphis, Friendly Neighbors Extension Club, and a 4-H club leader.
Lenore is survived by her daughters, Luzonne Darr, Holt, Michigan, and Mary Ann and husband Harvey Harrington, Chillicothe, Missouri; four grandchildren Diane and husband Fred Braselton, Teresa and husband Michael Magruder, Jennifer and husband Greg Gilmore all of Columbia, Daniel and wife Stephanie Barb, East Peoria, Illinois; eight great-grandchildren, Megan and husband Doug Karrenbrock, Wentzville, Missouri, Courtney and Joshua Braselton, Maddie and Emily Magruder, and Jacob Brannon, all of Columbia, Colton and Carson Barb of East Peoria, Illinois; great-great- grandsons Tucker and Kolt Karrenbrock, Wentzville, Missouri; nephew, William Stuart Adams; and nieces Jane Ann Adams and Janet Smith.
Lenore was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Winnie B. Adams; husband Leo M. Darr; and brother William Henry Adams.
Services were held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Joe Fulk officiating. Pallbearers were Daniel Barb, Fred Braselton, Michael Magruder, Greg Gilmore, Josh Braselton, Jacob Brannon, and Doug Karrenbrock. Honorary Pallbearers were Colton Barb, Carson Barb, Kolt Karrenbrock, and Tucker Karrenbrock. Music was provided by Ann Luther as the organist, and vocalists were Lori Fulk, Sheila Berkowitz, and Angela Westhoff.
Memorials were suggested to either the Scotland County Care Center or the First Christian Church in Memphis and can be left at, or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.
