(11/8/1941 - 9/24/2013)

Alberta Sue James McNamar, 71, of Memphis, MO entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO. The daughter of Guy and Maxine Jacobs James, she was born on November 8, 1941 in Kirksville Missouri.

Alberta grew up traveling the countryside with her family, while her father worked for the Santa Fe Railroad Company. They made a permanent homestead in Gorin around 1956. She attended Gorin R-III High School where she completed the 11th grade. Instead of graduating, she married her only high school sweetheart, Larry Richard McNamar, on Sunday, August 3, 1958 at the Gorin Baptist Church. To this union four children were born: Larry Dennis, James David, Shawn Richard and Shannon Ray.

She and Larry farmed around the Gorin area for many years. She often shared stories about the life of a housewife and raising her four sons on the farm. She treasured those memories in her heart. Alberta was a well-seasoned cook and found much pleasure in preparing meals for her family.

Other hobbies included painting, singing Gospel music, camping, playing cards and bingo, reading American History, watching the Andy Griffith and the Lucille Ball shows, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and simply visiting with people. She was a patient and beloved caretaker of many children in Scotland County.

In more recent years, her favorite past-time was riding around town in her golf cart. She loved spending time and making memories with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a committed wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, the big sister and valuable friend. Even in the midst of life's many heartaches and loss, she persevered with faith and strength. Alberta loved the Lord and was a member of the Gorin Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death was her parents, husband, Larry; two sons, David and Shawn, two grandsons, Ryan and Joshua, and a daughter-in-law, Janene McNamar.

Surviving relatives include: two sons, Dennis(Paula) McNamar of Lebanon, MO and Shannon (Kim) McNamar of Kahoka, MO; 12 grandchildren: Maria (Joshua) Wesley, Rachel (Jared) Tague, Jessica (Matt) Miller, Monica, Levi, Caleb and Jacob McNamar, Tyler (Kaylan) Henstorf , Becca and Bailey McNamar, Abigaile and Madison McNamar; 11 great-grandchildren, Moriah, Alexis, Eden, Brynlee and Truman Wesley, Evan and Natalie Tague, Evalyn, Genaveve, Vera and Vice Miller, a sister, Carolyn (James) Elveston of Natchez, MS; three brothers, Terry (Cinda) James and Junior (Pam) Masden of Kahoka, MO and Mark Masden of Kirksville, MO, a brother-in-law, Kenny (Donna) McNamar of Gorin, MO as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
