He married Carol Lynn Balogh, whom he had met while serving in the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, on August 5, 1961 at Waynesville, Missouri. To this union three children were born.

Through the years, Bill farmed and raised cattle in rural Van Buren and Scotland Counties until he and Carol moved to Arbela in 1973. He continued to raise cattle until his death. He also worked for Scotland County, doing road maintenance. He was affiliated with the Arbela United Methodist Church.

Bill enjoyed reading westerns and doing “Search-A-Word” puzzles but he realized his greatest enjoyment when he could spend time with his family and working with his cattle.
