Seventh Grade Boys Hoops Team Goes 10-2

The Scotland County seventh grade boys basketball team completed a successful season this winter, racking up a 10-2 record.

The Tigers kicked off the year with a 42-28 victory over Clark County on October 29th in Memphis. SCR-I led just 18-15 at the half but put the game away with a big third quarter behind nine points from Gage Dodge. Lane Pence led all scorers with 18 points. Dodge finished with 13 points and Bryson Orton added six.

Kahoka got the better of the rematch on their home court the following night, besting the Tigers 25-24 in Kahoka. Dodge led the tigers with 13 points and Stephen Terrill finished with nine points.

SCR-I posted its second straight one-point game, falling to Knox County 25-24 on November 8th. Three pointers by Brett Monroe and Dodge helped the Tigers take the lead at the half but the Eagles rallied late for the win. Dodge led the team in scoring with 11 points.

The Tigers pounded Putnam County 29-7 on November 9th in Memphis behind 16 points from Pence. Monroe and Gage each had four points and Justin Hull had two points.

SCR-I put up big numbers in the opener of the Schuyler County Tournament, besting the Rams 43-13. The Tigers used a balanced attack for the strong scoring performance. Pence was tops with 11 points. Monroe had a season-high 10 points while Dodge pitched in with nine and Terrill finished with seven.

The big numbers continued in the tourney semifinals as Scotland County mashed Milan 41-5. Dodge led the way with 12 points followed by Pence with 11 points. Terrill had eight with Monroe (six) and Hull (four) rounding out the huge scoring night.

The Tigers cruised to the tourney title with a 44-12 victory over Putnam County. Dodge was top scorer with 14 points. Terrill had a season-high 13 points. Pence finished with nine points. Monroe added four points and Orton and Brady Kice each added two points.

The winning ways continued as the Tigers knocked off North Shelby 40-15 behind a season-high 21 points from Dodge. Hull added six points and Monroe finished with five points.

Scotland County avenged its loss to Knox County, edging the Eagles 25-24 on November 27th in Memphis. Monroe and Dodge each had eight points to pace SCR-I.

The Tigers moved the winning streak to nine straight with a 34-16 victory over Schuyler County on November 30th. Dodge led a balanced attack with nine points. Pence finished with eight points and Monroe added seven. Terrill and Hull each had four points.

The calendar changed to December but SCR-I kept winning, closing out the year with a 6-22 win over Canton on December 3rd followed by a 39-23 win at Kirksville on December 7th.

Terrill led the Tigers to victory versus Canton, pouring in 11 points. Monroe and Pence each finished with 10 points and Orton had a season-high eight points.

Dodge topped the scorebook at Kirksville with 14 points. Pence added 12 points and Monroe finished with five. Orton, Terrill, Hull and Conner Payne each had a bucket in the win.
