Lady Tigers Defense Dominates in 50-13 Win Over Brashear

It took a little while for Scotland County to find its offense on Monday night in Brashear, but the Lady Tigers defense didn't skip a beat despite the team seeing its first action in more than two weeks.

SCR-I got most of its points early on in the paint. Hailey Dial and Bethany Rader each had a pair of buckets and Jessica Morrow added a field goal as SCR-I built an 11-2 lead in the first quarter.

The defense was stingy in the first period but buckled down to shutout Brashear in the second period.

Field goals by Shaye Wright and Megan Creek along with four points from Morrow helped put SCR-I comfortably ahead 22-2 at halftime.

The Lady Tigers long-distance shooting arrived after halftime. Scotland County canned four three-pointers in the third period, two each by Dial and Randi Slaughter. The barrage led a 20-point period by SCR-I, which led 42-8 with just eight minutes to play.

Slaughter added a pair of field goals in the fourth period under the running clock and Rader and Alexis Dodge each had a basket as SCR-I rolled on to the 50-13 victory.

Dial led Scotland County in scoring with 13 points and Slaughter finished with 12 points. Rader added nine points and Morrow had eight points as the Lady Tigers improved to 9-2 on the season.
