Milan Rallies to Hand Lady Tigers League Loss

Milan came from behind in the fourth quarter on Friday night to hand the Lady Tigers a key Tri-Rivers Conference loss on the road. The Wildcats prevailed 37-34, knocking down some key free throws late to continue SCR-I's recent struggles.

The long bus ride didn't appear to bother Scotland County early on. Megan Creek had a pair of field goals and Randi Slaughter hit a three-pointer as the visitors went ahead 11-7.

The shooting touch disappeared in period number two. SCR-I was unable to make a field goal in the key eight-minute stretch, settling for a a free throw each from Hailey Dial and Bethany Rader. That allowed Milan to pull ahead 15-13 at the intermission.

Jessica Morrow took charge in the third period. The SCR-I senior had eight points. A pair of free throws by Dial and bucket by Rader helped regain the advantage for the Lady Tigers 25-23 heading into the fourth quarter.

The margin disappeared despite a three-pointer by Katie Howard and baskets from Creek, Slaughter and Dial. Milan's Hannah Sanders had a huge fourth quarter, connecting for eight points. Milan also made six of nine free throws down the stretch to pull off the 37-34 upset.

On the night, Milan made 15 of 25 free throws. SCR-I only attempted six free throws in the game.

Sanders led all scorers with 14 points and Andra Sylvester added 10 for the victors.

SCR-I (13-5) was led in scoring by Morrow with eight points.
