Schuyler County Hands SCR-I Key Conference Loss

Scotland County was never able to get on track offensively Tuesday night in Queen City, allowing a key conference game to slip away in a 47-31 loss to Schuyler County.

The Lady Tigers managed just five points in the first period. Megan Creek hit a three-pointer and Bethany Rader had a field goal as SCR-I fell behind 11-5.

The scoring ramped up a bit in the second period, but Schuyler County was able to extend the lead behind Caley Sessions. She outscored SCR-I in the quarter, putting up 10 points to push the lead to 28-14 at the break. All the Lady Tigers scoring came off the bench as Alexis Dodge and Katie Howard had all nine points.

Scotland County reigned in the Rams on defense, but still were unable to buy a bucket. Creek hit a three-pointer and accounted for all six third-period points for the Lady Tigers who fell behind 36-20.

Sessions sealed the victory for Schuyler County from the free throw line. She made eight of 10 free throws on the night en route to a game-high 20 points for the victors. Whitney McElhinney added 15 points.

Scotland County (12-4) was led in scoring by Creek with 11 points.
