Junior High Track Teams Bring Home Top 3 Finishes

The Scotland County junior high track teams each finished in the top three at the Knox County relays to open the season. The boys team finished second while the Lady Tigers brought home third place from the April 3rd event held in Edina.

SCR-I used top performances in several field events to secure the strong showing. Will Pickerll was tops in the shot put with a throw of 33'5". He also finished third in the long jump at a distance of 14'. Ian See earned first place in the discus with a throw of 91'10". He also was sixth in the high jump at a height of 4'2".

Cameron Stone gave SCR-I the top two throws in the discus with his mark of 86'11". Tristan Kice completed similar honors with his shot put toss of 33'5". He also was second in the 110-meter hurdles for one of the top Tigers' performances on the track.

Ben Giberson turned in the other second place finish in the 200-meter dash. He was third in the high jump for the Tigers.

Gage Dodge finished third in the 200-meter dash. Riley Kliethermes was third in the 100-meter dash followed by teammate Austin Day in fourth. Lane Pence finished third in the 800-meter run.

Ryan Slaughter earned third place points in the triple jump and was fifth in the 400-meter dash.

Other points were earned by Alex Hunolt with an eighth place in the 1,600-meter run and Griffan Kerkmann who was eighth in the triple jump.

The boys picked up first place in the 4x200 meter relay. The 4x400 relay team was second and the 4x100 relay team was fifth.

The girls team was paced by a pair of first place finishes. Anna Monroe took top honors in the high jump, clearing 4'4". Maddie Brassfield crossed the finish line first in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:54.22. Monroe also finished third in the 1,600 meter run while Brassfield was seventh in the long jump.

Sadie Davis finished second in the triple jump at a distance of 25'5". She was also sixth in the 100-meter dash.

Abi Feeney finished third in the 400-meter dash and was fourth in the long jump. Chelsea Wood took fourth in the shot put and Stevi See was sixth. Calista Ortiz finished seventh in the 1,600-meter run.

The girls 4x400 meter relay team took first place. The 4x200 team was second and the 4x100 team was third. SCR-I entered a second squad in the 4x200 relay which took seventh place.
