Junior High Track Squads Show Well at Comet Relays



Anna Monroe has set the bar high thus far in the junior high track season. The Lady Tiger has won the event several times for SCR-I, including on Monday night at the Comet Relays in Eldon, IA.

The Scotland County junior high boys track team finished second and the girls took home third place from the Comet Relays held Monday, April 15th at Eldon, IA.

Ryan Slaughter helped the Tigers amass 118 team points, second only to Pekin's total of 160. The eighth grader won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:04.

Tristan Kice took top honors in the 100-meter hurdles for the Tigers. He also finished second in the 200-meter hurdles.

Will Pickerell finished third in the shotput followed by teammate Bryson Orton in fourth. Pickerell took third in the long jump.

Ian See was third in the discus, edging teammate Cameron Stone who was fourth. See was sixth in the high jump, behind Alex Hunolt who was fifth. See wrapped up a solid day with a third place run in the 100-meter dash. Riley Kliethermes was fourth in the race.

Ben Giberson took second place in the 200-meter dash followed by Gage Dodge in third.

Hunolt was fifth in the 1,600-meter run and Lane Pence finished sixth in the 400-meter dash.

Scotland County's 4x100 meter relay team was best on the day, finishing in a time of 54.29 seconds.

The Tigers finished second in the 4x200 meter relay as well as the 4x400 meter relay. SCR-I was third in the 4x800 meter relay and the 1,600 meter medley relay and took fifth in the 800 meter medley relay.

The Lady Tigers finished third on the afternoon with a team total of 78 points. Pekin made it a clean sweep, winning with 197 points followed by Eddyville with 134 points.

Chelsea Wood won the shot put for SCR-I with a throw of 25'4".

Anna Monroe was tops in the high jump at a height of 4'4". She also finished third in the 1,500 meter run with Calista Ortiz taking sixth place.

Abi Feeney finished third in the long jump with Maddie Brassfield taking fourth.

Sadie Davis finished sixth in the 100-meter dash. Chelsie Ortiz earned sixth place in the 100-meter and 200-meter hurdles.

Scotland County finished second in the 800-meter medley relay, the 4x100 meter relay, the 4x200 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay. The 1,600 meter medley relay team was third.
