Tigers Tops at Davis County Track Meet

The temperatures cooled off this week, but the Scotland County track program continued to heat up as the Tigers tied for first place at the Davis County relays held in Bloomfield, IA, on Tuesday, April 9th.

SCR-I compiled 126 teams points, tying for top honors with Van Buren High School. Cardinal was third with 118 points followed by Putnam County (74), Schuyler County (52), the Davis County junior varsity with 51 points and Seymour with 0 points.

Zach Miller led the way for the Tigers with a first place finish in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. He also finished first in the long jump, with teammate Caleb Doubet placing fourth in the event.

Chris Jackson crossed the finish line first in the 400-meter dash. The junior took sixth in the 200-meter dash.

Jackson and Miller teamed up with Lucas Howard and Terence Durham to take top honors in the 4x400 meter relay.

Howard bested the field in the 400-meter hurdles. The junior finished second in the high jump and was third in the 110-meter hurdles ahead of Randan Kraus who earned fifth place points. Brendan Orton finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles to give SCR-I a pair of point winners in the event.

Zach Doubet picked up a second place finish in the 1,600 meter run while Morgan Carlton was sixth. Zach finished 3rd in the 800-meter run. Carlton also took 3rd place in the 3,200 meter run.

Bailey Johnston rounded out the individual scoring with a sixth place finish in the discus.

The Tigers took home two third place relay finishes led by the 4x800 team of Durham, Zach Curry, Z. Doubet and Joseph Hite. The shuttle relay team of Orton, Jackson, Durham and Kraus was also third.

The 4x200 relay team of Kraus, Johnston, Hite and Evan Hager finished fourth as did the 1600-meter medley relay team of Durham, C. Doubet, Hite and Curry.

The 4x100 relay team of Orton, Kraus, Howard and Hager finished fifth.
