Cowell Misses Cut For State Golf Berth
The 2013 Scotland County golf season officially came to a close on Monday, May 6th as Brice Cowell missed the cut at the Class 1 Section 2 golf state semifinals held at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly.
Cowell had advanced to the sectional event as a qualifier at district golf the week earlier. He shot a 140 on Monday, which was good for 31st overall. Only the top 25 golfers from the four Missouri sectionals advance to state.
Marceline's Brett McGlothlin and Gregory Pitzer of Louisiana tied for the sectional meet individual medalist honors with a score of 122.
William Hamilton carded a 123 to give Marceline the tiebreaker win over Louisianan for the team title. Both squads carded team scores of 350.
Austin Wyatt of Salisbury tied Hamilton for third overall with a 123 on the day.
Finishing fifth was Putnam County's Cody Quint.
Brendan Ross and Dylan Smith of Louisiana both carded rounds of 124 to tie for sixth overall. Grant Gregory finished eighth with a 125 and La Plata teammate Ben Bolden was ninth with a 126. Rounding out the top 10 was J. Tucker Dunham of Marceline with a 128.
