Campus Bowl Squad Closes Season With Second Place Finish at Districts
Emily Ebeling and Morgan Carleton earned all-district campus bowl honors.
After sweeping through the regular season, the Scotland County Campus Bowl team came up one game short of a state playoff bid, having to settle for second place in the Class 2 District 14 playoffs.
SCR-I was perfect in match play on the 2013 season, with the team's only losses coming in tournament action. The Tigers claimed the consolation prize in the Monroe City Tournament and had to settle for third place in the Scotland County Tourney.
Scotland County defeated Putnam County 360-200 in the opening round of the district tourney, but fell to South Shelby 420-230 in the finals. The Cardinals went on to win a first round state playoff match vs. Ellsbury to make it to the Elite Eight.
SCR-I completed the season with a 7-3 record and claimed the Tri-Rivers Conference Title.
Team members Morgan Carleton and Emily Ebeling were named all-district performers.
The all-district scholar bowl team consisted of Dustin Bird of South Shelby with a 17.6 scoring average per contest; Craig Griswold of Putnam County with a 9.0 scoring average; Carleton, Miller Coleman of Schuyler County both with 8.0 scoring averages; Patrick Gibbons of Knox County with a 6.25 scoring average; and Ebeling and Brett Tade of Putnam County with 6.0 scoring averages.
The Scotland County campus bowl team members were Carleton, Ebeling, Chris Smeltser, Leah Terrill, Rachel Duzan, Renay Friendshuh, Josh Adams, Caleb Doubet, and Morgan Alexander. The team was coached by Billie Lanham and Carol McCabe.
