Lady Tigers Pound Four Homers in 16-1 Demolition of Novinger

CLOSE PLAY - Claire Shannan puts the tag on the Novinger runner at third base as the dugout anxiously looks on awaiting a safe or out call.

Two nights after struggling to find any offense, SCR-I made up for it with a power onslaught at Novinger on Thursday evening en route a 16-0 demolition of the Wildcats.

Brieanna Priebe was the first SCR-I batter to flex her muscles. After a two-out single by Bethany Rader, the junior second baseman crushed a drive to left center field to make the score 2-0.

That's where the score remained until the top of the third. Scotland County sent nine batters to the plate, taking advantage of three Novinger errors to plate four more runs. Miranda Holland had the key hit, a two-run single.

Rader led off the fourth inning with her second home run of the season. Priebe followed with a double before Holland laced an RBI single to extend the margin to 8-0.

Scotland County put the game away in the top of the fifth inning, sending 14 batters to the plate. After Claire Shannan reached on an error and Abi Feeney walked, Randi Slaughter cracked a three-run home run to extend the lead to 11-0.

Olivia Harris and Rader walked before a base hit by Priebe loaded the bases. Holland capped off the Lady Tigers power show when she delivered a grand slam home run.

Rader closed out her second straight shutout, improving to 3-0 on the year. She allowed four hits and walked one in five innings of work. Rader struck out eight batters in the win.
