SCR-I Pounds Paris 22-5 in Tourney Opener
Brieanna Priebe notched the pitching win Saturday in the tourney opener versus Paris.
A total of 16 batters went to the plate in the first inning and Scotland County was able to jump out to an 11-0 lead despite compiling one single base hit in the opener of the Knox County Tourney on Saturday.
The top seeded Tigers rolled on to a 22-5 win over the Coyotes in a game that ended by the 15 run rule in the third inning.
SCR-I worked out nine walks in the bottom of the first inning en route to the big lead. The lone hit was a two-RBI single by Miranda Holland.
In the second inning, SCR-I tacked on four more runs with RBIs by Bethany Rader and Brieanna Priebe. Pinch hitter Maddie Brassfield also delivered an RBI hit.
Priebe retired the side in order in the first two innings before the junior varsity defense was inserted for the third frame. Paris took advantage of three errors to plate five runs and force SCR-I to bat one final time.
SCR-I took advantage of a pair of walks and two Paris errors to plate a pair of runs. Rader was hit by a pitch for the third time in the game to load the bases for Holland who ended the game in style with a grand slam, making the final score 22-5.
Holland went 2-3 with six RBI in the win. Rader reached base four times despite not recording an official at bat, accounting for four runs.
Priebe notched the pitching victory, giving up two hits and a walk in three innings of work while striking out two.
