SCR-I Blasts Bevier 13-0 in Semifinals

A hot-hitting Scotland County team blasted Bevier 13-0 in the semifinals of the North Shelby Tournament, advancing to the team's second consecutive championship game.

Miranda Holland started the game with a base hit. After Bethany Rader was hit by a pitch, Brieanna Priebe delivered an RBI single. Olivia Harris knocked in two more runs with a base hit to put SCR-I ahead 3-0.

Rader surrendered back-to-back two-out singles in the bottom of the inning but worked out of the jam. That proved to be the lone scoring threat of the contest for Bevier as Rader shutdown the bats the rest of the game, holding the team hitless over the final five innings.

That was not the case for SCR-I, which sent eight batters to the plate in the second inning, plating four more runs. Holland and Priebe had doubles and Rader knocked in a pair of runs with a base hit to push the lead to 7-0.

Scotland County tacked on lone tallies in the third and fourth inning before closing out the contest with four runs in the sixth. Maddie Brassfield helped the Lady Tigers secure the 10-run rule with a two run single.

Rader notched the pitching victory, scoring the shutout over six innings of work. She held Bevier to two hits and one walk while striking out five.
