SCR-I Overcomes Slow Start to Smash Linn County 14-0

Olivia Harris legs out a base hit in the Lady Tigers opener at the North Shelby Tournament on Saturday morning.

It took a little while for the Scotland County bats to wake up Saturday morning, but once they arrived there was no stopping the hits as Scotland County rolled to a 14-0 win over Linn County in the opening round of the North Shelby Tourney.

The game was scoreless until the third inning when Abi Feeney led off with a base hit. Randi Slaughter followed with a base hit and both runners scored on a single by Bethany Rader to make the score 2-0.

That was more than enough scoring as Brieanna Priebe and Rader combined for a six inning shutout.

The Lady Tigers tacked on two runs in the fifth inning when Miranda Holland led off with a base hit. She ended up on third courtesy of an error and came in to score on a wild pitch. Priebe later walked and scored on a base hit by Hailey Dial to make the score 4-0.

Scotland County then sent 14 batters to the plate in the sixth inning, scoring 10 runs. Claire Shannan, Shaye Wright, Olivia Harris, Tasha Eggleston-Wood and Rader all had doubles during the offensive outburst.

Dial went 2-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs. Holland, Slaughter and Rader all went 2-4 in the game that saw SCR-I amass 13 hits.

Priebe notched the pitching victory, allowing no runs on four hits over three innings of work. Rader pitched the final three innings, surrendering just one hit while striking out two.
