Timber Ridge Golfers Claim Fabius Cup With Win Over Lancaster County Club
Golfers representing Timber Ridge Golf Course in Memphis claimed the annual Fabius Cup championship in dominating fashion with a 7.5 to 1.5 margin of victory over golfers from the Schuyler County Country Club.
The Scotland County golfers took to the road to regain the traveling trophy, besting the Schuyler County golfers on their home course in Lancaster.
The alternating shot format featured twosomes representing each course, pitted against an opposing team.
The TRGC teams won seven of the nine parings, losing just one and tying the other.
The tie came in the match pitting Steve Simpson and Royce Cook versus Poe and Lutz.
The team of Kris Lister and Chris Hunt topped Tallman and Combs. Donnie Middleton and Kelly Cooley defeated Morgan and March while Lynn Riney and Roger Grant picked up a point for TRCG with a win over Wilcox and Wilcox.
Lancaster Country Club got its lone win with Calhoun and Calhoun edging Nick Hatfield and Bob Newman.
TRGC rebounded with wins by Doug Shalley and Dave Shalley over N. Oliver and Anderson, and Mike Drummond and Charlie Boyer over R. Oliver and Treece. The Memphis golfers also picked up wins from Mark Drummond and Andy Boyer over M. Oliver and Small; and Corvin Drummond and Mike Frazier over C. Oliver and Hopkins.
The Fabius Cup will be on display at TRGC in 2014 with the team to be called upon in September next year to try to retain the annual honor.
