Priebe Powers SCR-I to 5-1 Win Over Brashear

Brieanna Priebe powered SCR-I to a 5-1 win over Brashear, going 4-4 at the plate with four doubles.

A bit of rare rain pushed back SCR-I's softball game a couple days, but the delay didn't bother the Lady Tigers as they traveled to Brashear on Wednesday night and posted a 5-1 victory.

Back-to-back two out doubles netted Scotland County a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Bethany Rader bashed a two-base hit to right field and courtesy runner Chelsea Wood came in to score on a two-bagger by Brieanna Priebe.

Priebe crushed another double in the third inning, but it bounced over the fence forcing Wood to stop at third base by rule. The freshman was again running for Rader who had produced a two-out base hit. The bad bounce hurt, as SCR-I stranded the runners.

It only postponed more runs, as SCR-I got back on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Hailey Dial walked and came into score when Claire Shannan reached on an error to make the score 2-0.

Randi Slaughter singled and scored in the fifth inning on Priebe's third double of the night, to make it 3-0.

Brashear broke up Rader's no hitter in the fifth inning with three base knocks that led to a run, to trim the lead to 3-1.

Scotland County earned some breathing room in the top of the seventh inning. Priebe finished off a perfect 4-4 night at the plate with her fourth double of the night. Olivia Harris drove in a run with a triple and courtesy runner Karissa Adams scored on base hit by Shaye Wright, to make the score 5-1.

Rader closed out the win, going the distance. She gave up one run on three hits over seven innings of work while striking out 13 and walking one. SCR-I improved to 9-3 on the season with the victory.
