Lady Tigers Take Tourney Opener 15-0 Before Rain Ends Day

As the high winds pushed the storm front closer, Scotland County's bats whipped up plenty of turbulence on their own. The Lady Tigers belted out 15 runs en route to a three-inning victory over La Plata in the opening round of the Schuyler County Tournament.

It was a good thing the game ended after three innings courtesy of the mercy rule, as the rains started soon after, forcing the cancelation of the remainder of the tourney.

The Tigers extended their record to 11-3 with the 15-0 win over the Bulldogs.

Brieanna Priebe was credited with the shutout. She blanked La Plata over three innings, allowing no hits while walking two and striking out five.

SCR-I sent 13 batters to the plate in the first inning. Miranda Holland started the frame with a base hit up the middle. Randi Slaughter was hit by a pitch before Bethany Rader reached on an error that brought home two runs. Priebe made it 4-0 when she crushed a two-run homer.

Olivia Harris kept the offense rolling when she smashed a double down the right field line. After walks to Shaye Wright and Claire Shannan loaded the bases, Abi Feeney delivered a two-run single. An infield single by Slaughter again loaded the bases for Rader. The senior crushed a hit to centerfield, and the ball took a crazy hop over the fielder's head rolling to the fence, resulting in a grand slam homerun for Rader that made the score 10-0.

The Lady Tigers put the game away in the bottom of the third. Holland led off with a homerun. Slaughter singled and stole second before scoring on a base hit by Rader. She stole her second base of the contest before walks to Priebe and Harris loaded the bases. Hailey Dial closed out the morning with a three-run walk-off double to make the final score 15-0.
