Troutman Heads List of Tigers Earning All-Conference Football Honors
Offensive linemen Jed Troutman (56) and Landyn Swearingen (71) were honored with Tri-Rivers Conference all-conference selections.
Scotland County's Jed Troutman brought home not one, but two Tri-Rivers Conference first team all-conference awards when the post season awards were handed out by the league's coaches last week.
The senior was a unanimous selection on defense at the linebacker spot after leading the team in tackles for the second straight season. he also was honored as a first teamer on the offensive line.
The lone other first team winner was fellow senior Chris Jackson, who was honored at wide receiver. Jackson racked up 724 yards and 8 TDs on 79 rushes and was the team's leading receiver with 25 catches for 320 yards and 5 TDs.
SCR-I had three players on both the offensive and defensive second teams.
Will McRobert was named to the second team at running back. He had 159 carries for 983 yards and 11 TDs in a season hampered by injuries. He'll get another shot at the top honors in 2014 and will be doing so again behind the blocking of center Landyn Swearingen. The fellow junior was also honored on the second team offense along with freshman wide receiver Ian See.
The three Tigers named to the second team defense were senior defensive end Lucas Howard, sophomore linebacker Jade Holt and freshman defensive back Aaron Buford.
Milan dominated the post season awards after finishing a perfect 5-0 in league play. Running back Aaron Richardson was named the league MVP while John Dabney took home the coach of the year honors.
Earning first team honors on offense were quarterback Donovan Edwards (Sr.), running back Brody Moubry (Jr.), lineman Riley Poston (Jr.), and receiver Royce Poore (Sr.) of Knox County; Richardson (Sr.), linemen Nathan Miller (Sr.) and Drew Russell (Sr.), and tight end Matt Oxendale (Jr.) of Milan; lineman Riley Wood (Jr.), and receiver Cody Quint (Sr.) of Putnam County; Troutman and Jackson for SCR-I; and lineman Justin Seaton (Sr.) of Schuyler County.
The first team defense consisted of lineman Nat Harder (Jr.), Moubry at linebacker and Poore at defensive back for Knox County; end Bodie Eaglen (Jr.), linebackers Richardson and Kevin DeRyke (Sr.) and defensive back Caleb May (Sr.) of Milan; defensive back Zack Schmitter (Sr.) and Seaton at defensive end for Schuyler County; Troutman at linebacker for SCR-I; and Wood at lineman for Putnam County.
First team special teams honors went to Milan Kicker Raul Palacios (Jr.); punters John Arnett (Sr.) of North Shelby and Seaton of Schuyler County; returners Tristan Fowler (Sr.) of Milan, Quint of Putnam County and Schmitter of Schuyler County.
Named to the second team offense were quarterback Jacob Parker (Sr.) lineman Nathan Pipes (Sr.) and Clay Casady (Jr.) and receiver Tyler Riediger (Sr.) of Putnam County; Schmitter at running back for Schuyler County; Arnett at running back and lineman Taylor Jackson (Sr.) for North Shelby; Harder at lineman, and tight end Cedric Boone (Jr.) for Knox County; lineman Derick White (Sr.) and receiver Holden Stallbaumer (Jr.) for Milan; and McRobert, Swearingen and See for SCR-I.
Second team defense honorees were Poston at lineman and linebacker Drew Hodge (So.) for Knox County; lineman Tyler Smith (Jr.), end Kaleb Davidson (Jr.), Miller at linebacker and defensive back Sean Smith (Sr.) for Milan; linebacker Drake Minear (Sr.) and Parker at defensive back for Putnam County; Jackson at lineman and linebacker Zack Spilker (Jr.) for North Shelby; and Howard, Holt and Buford for the Tigers.
Second team special teams winners were Sawyer Tarr (Sr.) kicker for Schuyler County and Quint at punter for Putnam County.
