Iowa Man Facing Felony Drug Charges Following Arrest in Memphis
A Stockton, IA man is facing felony drug charges following his arrest in Memphis on January 12th. According to the Memphis Police Department, Chris Spurgeon, 24, was taken into custody following an incident at a private residence.
Law enforcement was summoned to 202 East Jefferson Street in Memphis regarding a possible overdose. After entering the residence, officers allegedly witnessed Spurgeon discard illegal narcotics. Additional items were located in his possessions following a search authorized by the property owners.
Spurgeon was arrested and transported to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office. He was then transported to the Scotland County Hospital Emergency Room before being medically cleared to be returned to jail.
Officers recovered what was believed to be Fentanyl patches as well as Oxycontin pills in addition to other prescription medication and empty containers.
Spurgeon is being charged with three counts of class C felony of possession of a controlled substance for the Fentanyl patches, and Oxycontin and Xanax pills. He is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.
